About Us

The music scene as it stands today is in major state of upheaval. The movers and the shakers are showing their true colors by either moving with the times creatively and environmentally, or like dinosaurs; awaiting the inevitable meteorite that will end their existence in this new plane of reality.

Yet with this knowledge what has really changed in the industry? have people stopped communicating their feelings and ideas via the idiom of music? Are they seeking other forms of enjoyment with less of an emotional content and overall dynamic result?

In a word? no.

But the method of receiving new music needs to be drastically re-thought.

Ok, i am not trying to re-design the wheel but i am trying to give another option with reference to ascertaining new music – and should it be genre specific? what now? in a period of time of the ‘mash-up’, artists collaborating with each other from different musical back grounds, yes; the industry may be in a state of ill repair, but the creative need is still there, for whatever reason we need to be able to create, hear, replicate, donate on an artistic level that most record industry execs do not understand. this is not number crunching. Music is a complete level of communication on its own that should be acknowledged and appreciated for what it is.

Beyond comparison.

Anyone pursuing a career – or just making music for the hell of it should be applauded for throwing themselves into the lion’s den of iniquity, and supported in their endeavours; for if other musicians are not gonna be there to show support, then we are truly doomed.

At 25 HCR, music is music, is music. whatever the genre, as long as it is heartfelt, emotional, dynamic, relevant – hell all music is relevant because all music has the means to move somebody somewhere – ANYWHERE.

Remember one thing, I listen to everything and i would be doing myself a dis-service if i approached having my own label any other way. so come one, come all,

Listen to something new, hell if you don’t like it treat it as a lesson learned. If you want to tell me why you don’t like it – please do. If you appreciate it then i want to hear from you all the same!

This is all about conveniently giving you the opportunity to check out new music, to give the artist the chance to get their music out there to a wider audience than they might ordinarily, and for me to share my joy of music with as many people as possible.

Come check us out, we are open 25 hours a day…

MERRY NEW YEAR! hope one and all had a great festive season and that the new year has not been too much of a jolt from our old sparing partner – or as i prefer to call him – my nemesis, reality! it’s been a while since i put something up here – and i feel really bad for not leaving a xmas salutations – but what the hey, i am sure you all got on just fine without those magic words from me!

‘anywho,’ the real reason i am here at this un-godly hour of the morning (it’s currently 02:33am) is because i wanna fill you all in on what’s happening with the label.

the next ‘batter up’ to the plate (the next release) will be the amazing Craven Braves, with their debut single, Rough Diamond. (due for release 13/02/12) if you are at all interested in new music from guys doing their utmost to ‘buck the system’ then check these guys out, you will not be disappointed. i first saw them perform for me at one of my nites in london and they were just incredible. so please, give yourselves the time to form and opinion and get back to me.

Mario Nardi, a sicillian born london living, loving and performing musical anarchist will be joining the throngs of the label this year and having worked with bass playing, djing and music making empresario Brendan Pichio, big things are assured for this hard working music lover.

The IC1s, having just completed xmas release (for the homeless charity shelter) and are gearing up for their next release which will follow in the up and coming months. they have also played a plethora of shows other the past few months and if you have taken the time to go see them, you’ll know that this band is one of the best live acts to go see – period.

JEYE T has not long completed tour dates of scotland and has assured me of some great material for the new year as well, which will be an easy ask of such a talented song writer.

lest we forget material from the beautiful voice of lizzie nightingale and black einstein both of which are working away ardently at new material and will also be coming to a gig near you soon!

so as you can see there is plenty to keep us busy here and hopefully you will stick with us on this leg of the journey.

if i haven’t gotten back to you yet with any requests, i’ll get there eventually, never fear, all is at hand – and i hope to hear from you in the not too distant future. remember band of the week is still gonna be happening so send me stuff to check out – but you guys have to come on the site and let me know what you think, lest we forget the whole idea about the label is for us all to start communicating about our ‘likes and loathes’ in music – and if your likes and loathes are here then let me know!

oh well, i guess it is time for me to hit the hay. you guys be good and i hope to hear from you real soon!

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

    gary.

hey hey. hope all’s good and all. what’s been happening with you guys? whatever you guys have been up to i hope that it has been productive and fun! there’s been lots happening here, too much to go in to if the truth be known.

right. here’s the scoop. if you are in a band or have buddies that are in in bands, or maybe you are a solo artists and you have great material and are still looking for an outlet. send it my way. my next plan to assist new bands as follows. now pay attention. due to the sheer volume of music we get at the label the plan is to give everybody the chance to get material uploaded to the website twitter and facebook site. there you will get free promotion of your stuff – i repeat again, FREE PROMOTION – for 7 – 10 days. the only thing that i ask is that you drive your traffic my way via the label facebook page and my website in the form of comments about the music uploaded. the more people you get to leave comments, the longer your stuff stays up. simples. plus if it is that good, i just might sign ya!

how does that sound for a deal? let me know if you are in.

again hope you guys are all well and that i hear from you real soon!

    catch you later!!!!

  6. admin says:

hey hey! hope all’s well and all. again i just figured i would say ‘how-di-do’ and clue you in on ‘the haps.’ it’s been a good couple of weeks with Jackie Zero kicking of in fine style at the Amersham Arms in New Cross. the guys at goldsmith’s university have been thoroughly entertaining and i am looking forward to hanging out with them this coming thursday. whom ever came up with the phrase ‘the further north you, the friendlier people are,’ obviously either discounted areas of south london – or they began their thesis on the subject in brighton… anywho i digress, if you were around on saturday nite – and by around i mean at the Queen of Hoxton – you hopefully would’ve had a great nites entertainment laid on by Ivan and the Wolves, The Tricks and the ic1s, my buddies at the Trash Society and a great set of dj’s. a great nite was had by all.

last nite i contributed to the Jo Good radio show on bbc radio london. had a great time with guests, the Fanclub and Gus Macgregor. some great music was played and the company was exceptional. hope you had a chance to check it out!
next on the cards is a party at the purple turtle, november 19th, another great release from the ic1s, more work from the ever talented lizzie nightingale and a xmas party to boot in december!
should be a lot of fun if you can make it.

on that note it is time for me to bid you adieux.

catch you guys later! (hey – don’t forget tp spread the good word!

  7. gary powell says:

WOW! what a crap label boss i am! said i was gonna stay in contact with you and have i? only just! and certainly not enough if my life depended on it – and if it was your life, you would be screwed!
‘anywhooo,’ here i am, trying to do my best in the god given time allotted, which as we all now ain’t much, but suffice to say i am here now. better late than never aye? how have you all been? what’s been happening? what are you listening to? has anything out there rocked your world enough for you to not stop talking about it (said in a jules winnfield samuel l jackson type voice) – and if so? why ain’t you told me about it?

hopefully you will have checked out the newly signed ic1s and assisted in the world wide in-doctrination of people for that band – lest we forget Jeye T’s release Telescopic Eye, Matt Acheson’s Monkeyland, and Black Einsteins Common ground (with soon to be released remix’s). be great to get your opinion of these releases, your likes and woes and any opinions and ideas you may have for the progression of the label. if you wanna talk directly to the artists assigned to the label – say so! lets get that there conversation happening. remember we are trying to put the power back in your hands, the buying public and one good way of doing that is by you having direct access to the artists you will eventually be seeing and listening to.

here’s another reason to get involved. i wanna re-direct the labels involvement with everybody concerned by giving all artists and bands alike the opportunity to be featured on the labels site, but we’ll tell you more about that when we are ready to go live. outside of that the labels nites are going well and we are looking forward to another new venture at the Amersham Arms, New Cross, September 29th featuring London Guns in a new weekly nite that should just be a lot of fun. October 8th see’s us back at the queen of hoxton for an ‘all-dayer’ and will also see the performances of Jeye T and the ic1s – plus i’ll be making a fool of myself djing again.

oh well, i guess that covers it for now. again, please hit me back with anything you wanna discuss, musically or otherwise and i’ll be happy to ‘conversate’ with you about most subjects.

hope the rest of your day goes well and that i hear back from you real soon.

    catch you later!!!!!

  8. gary powell says:

hey hey. hope all’s well and all. just mailing to again keep you abreast of what’s happening here at the label. things have been moving swiftly here with the healthy addition of the IC1′s to the label, plus the recent releases from Black Einstein (common ground) and Jeye T (telescopic eye). the 25th hour nites are in full swing and we have recently set up shop with the Mean Fiddler group, our first nite being at the garage in highbury, featuring Spring heeled Jack, Soldier and Bleech. a great nite was had by all. the next venture will see us at Nambucca, September 16th for a release party for the IC1′s and Jeye T, also featuring krakatoa and a bunch of dj’s. (including myself). for all those intending on coming, should be a great nite! still be great to hear from you guys regarding all things music. remember the ethos of the label is to put the music back into the hands of the folks that count, that is you – so please do not hesitate to give me your opinion because it is important.

and on that note i am signing of.

keep an eye out for the next release, a certain mr Matthew Acheson and his cover of the chameleons track from back in the day (day, day, day, day) called Monkeyland. plus, long time label being – well i say long time but in the span of things the label has only been up and running just over a year and she has been here since the beginning, anywho i digress, Lizzie Nightingale is working some new stuff so keep an eye out for updates on her.

right, i shall catch you folks later!

hope you all have a good one!!!!!

  9. admin says:

hey hey one and all! it’s been a long time (in the great words of eric b) but after a long period of time of re-assessing and preparing for the next set of releases i figured i would come say ‘hey hey’ to one and all. there’s been a good few additions to the family as well and i am happy to welcome mean fiddler to the fold as we have our first nite together on august 19th at the garage in highbury and islington.

i’d also like to welcome matt acheson and black einstein to the merry gang. hopefully it will be a long and fruitful relationship. i still have yet to introduce you to kemble walters and the blank faces and the honorable south but we will get to that when we are a little closer to sorting out the releases.

oh well, this is just a short how-di-do-di, hope i get to hear from some of you real soon and that all’s well in your world.

    catch you later!!!!

hey hey one and all. hope life is treating you well. it’s been a busy old period of time for a change – what with the royal wedding (who gives a fuck) the assassination of osama bin laden (now there’s another potential can can of whoop ass coming right back at us by extremists) and last but not least, 25 hour convenience store artists doing there thing without a hitch. jeye t and his merry consorts are playing from london to glasgow, for alan mcgee and his creation film and also flying the flag for the label as a breath of fresh air and good old fashion rock and roll, all rolled up into one neat little package. lizzie nightingale is getting some great reactions from her new single ‘sparkle,” which will be out at the end of the month – and even has an interesting cameo appearance in it as well! all of the artists, from bleech to antlered man are making waves and i am please to add to the roster, THE HONORABLE SOUTH, from new orleans, and Matt Acheson from a little bit closer to home in bristol. there may be a divide of an ocean and a time zone but the artists share the common goal of achievement via the love of music and performance, and on that note, what more could the listening public want?

i’ll get some of the guys material uploaded to the site so you can have a good look see, it’d be great to get your opinion of the music and have you start a relationship with the artists.

on that note i bid you good nite. keep em pealed for the antlered man release and launch party and video which will be happening soon!

hope to hear from you guys soon.

thanx jamie! the label is my passion right now because there are so many talented artists out there without somebody out there championing their cause. even if they get a deal the label is gonna be as cut throat as possible. so i’m gonna put on my own shows, release my artists and tell the world that i love them. somebody’s gotta do it!

i hope one and all had a great easter weekend!!!

  16. admin says:

hey hey one and all! hope you are well and that the fine weather is agreeing you, as it is me. my tan is coming on like a house on fire! (?) any-who…. just figured i would drop those of you who frequent the site a recent heads up. on may 4th 2011 (sorry for pointing out the most obvious) the 25th hour – the labels live nite, will be presenting Antlered Man, Bleech, Jeye T and the Raquels at the Monarch, Camden London (or as i prefer to call it, Londonia). this will be the first of a series of gigs we’ll be putting on for the labels artists at venues around the UK, i say UK as there will also be a gig in Glasgow featuring Lizzie Nightingale and Jeye T.
if you are on the site, spread the word that we are not only a conduit for artists recordings, but we are also trying to give them a platform where by folks can go see what the hype is all about. whether you purchase CD’s, vinyl or digital downloads, there is nothing that compares to a live performance – that we can all agree upon.

i am also putting together a compilation Cd of all the artists currently on the roster. this will initially be available free to the libertines competition winners (and the 200 vip’s attending the premier) – but will also then be available later on to all subscribers to the labels website. never let it be said that i do not try and give a little back. now it’s your turn. please spread the word about the label and the artists on board. this will not only help me but it will be a massive boost to all the artists on board, which for me is the most important thing. i am only here to serve the artists on the label to the best of my ability and hopefully feed music fans with something not only worth listening to, but worth talking about as well. remember music is the great communicator.

i stand by my initial statement i wanna hear what you think about all things music. whether on the label or otherwise, lets get to talking music peeps!

and on that note, i bid you good nite.

    hope all’s well folks.

    catch you later!

  18. admin says:

hey hey! sorry for the delay in getting back to you all. it has been a pretty hectic few months, what with sorting out nites for the label – including a successful nite at the queen of hoxton (the 25th hour) london and now with events in glasgow, london and milton keynes to come, in association with a plethora of releases, i can safely say it has been a productive period of time. also in that period of time jeye t’s first release on the label is near completion. it will be in the format of a 4 track Ep, produced by Jon Moon of Kings of Leon, Amy Winehouse, Dirty Pretty Things – and more recently Dionne Bromfield, and Example fame. i can safely say that not only is the material great but i have had a great time working with jeye and his band putting the material together – and can these guys play! lizzie nightingale has shot a video, and is ready to release her new single ‘sparkle.’ the track is great and really shows of her beautiful vocal technique – to the point where i have done a remix of the track so expect to hear that soon. bleech have finished recording there album and are ready to release a selection of tracks via the label. this bands sound and look is something that has been missing from the scene for a while and i am excited to see what your reaction will be to this up and coming band. great bunch of guys as well i might add! so as you can see, time has been well spent. oh, and i forgot to mention that there will be a new The Invasion Of… release – plus i have yet to mention the new arrivals to the labels roster!

i am looking forward to starting the conversation with you again as my work load is soon to be less end somewhat by the assistance of great bunch of guys – who will be announced later when we cross the t’s and dot the i’s.

on that note. tomorrow is another day. and i got work to do before i hit the hay.

hope you guys are all well and that i hear from someone real soon!

    catch you later!!!

hey hey one and all. hope all’s well. it’s been a very productive day, with the completion of the release schedule for the ’25 hour convenience store’ including new additions to the roster, Bleech, and The Baddies. i can safely say that i am so excited to get all this great music out to you in the up and coming months and am looking forward to hearing some great feedback – whether it be positive or otherwise – hey, everyday is a school day and we should all treat it as such or else how do we grow as individuals in this ever growing world of new experiences? all of the artists involved with the label will also have the opportunity to air their opinions with each other and you, to help create a listening environment that can only improve what may happen next for the label. i am soooo proud, honoured and lucky to be involved with such a limitless pool of ability and talent and am now looking forward to seeing what each artist will bring to the table next.

keep your eyes pealed for the release schedule – it will be uploaded to the sight with more information and we may even throw in some taster down loads to prepare you for the up and coming on slaught!

hey hey one and all. it has certainly been a very interesting past few days – with the pre-production rehearsals for jeye t’s new band taking place at the end of last week at rooz studios, meeting up with the owner of rooz – whom i have not seen since i last played there with the libertines. having the new guitarist – james slot in like the best fitted glove ever was the particularly exciting. since then the recording session has come and gone and again jon moon has done us proud with the quality of his work. as far as producers go, i would put him alongside some of the best.

since the weekend i have also met up with michael the lead singer of the baddies and the guys from the band ‘bleech,’ both of whom have toured together previously so not only have a shared history and friendship but a great respect for each others body of work.
things are looking great for releases for both acts within the next few months so i am more than happy to welcome them to family that is 25 hour convenience store!

again stay glued to the site as there will be more information coming soon, and as the information flies out to you and the releases take place, it would be good for us all to grow together under the umbrella of the 25.

hope one and all are well and am looking forward to hearing from you real soon!!!

hey hey one and all! i am back. had to take a weeks vacation to re-charge the ever so weak batteries. it’s been a busy old time as i am sure some of you are aware. if any of you have missed any my ramblings, then that is good to hear, for the most of you that haven’t? well i guess it’s just business as usual from now on. stay tuned folks and keep your ears to the ground. most record companies don’t believe the power of the consumer but it’s you who drives the industry and it is you who predicts what works and what doesn’t. so as long as i have you on my side and you keep me informed as to what’s what, then i guess we’ll be alright.

so, you guys do what you need to do and i will try my best to keep my end of the bargain and supply you with the music that you wanna hear.

    hey hey hey!!!

hope all’s well one and all! i am pleased to announce the new additions to the labels slowly growing roster. ‘Antlered Man and Dashikter,’ will bring an energy and a new dimension to an already dynamic roster that will – if given half the chance, infuse and enthuse all those willing to give new music a chance.
the release schedules are near completion, jeye t’ and his fine set of cohorts will soon be ready to be unleashed onto the masses and there are still things being worked on that will at the least make you prick your ears.

so in short, those of you who are reading this, then you have not lost your faith in love or music, nor should you. stay tuned for more updates and remember, i wanna hear what you think, if we work together, who knows what we can accomplish?

I love what you’re doing here with 25HR.. it’s about time the industry got something innovative and diverse to kickstart a new generation of great music.

Hey hey one and all. as the witching hour approaches (that’s xmas to the uninitiated) i just figured i would send one and all xmas greetings and a happy new year, plus this will give me a chance to reiterate the pledge made with reference to keeping you informed and communicating with you about what is happening here at the 25 hour convenience store. it would be great to hear your comments about the artists that we release come the new year and their body of work. plus lets here what you gotta say about the state of music as it stands right now. i hope to bring a diverse body of work to the table and help develop all the artists concerned in what ever area they need the assistance. this should lead to a healthy conversation between us all. i’ll also be getting the artists up here as well so you can converse directly with them and they in turn can interact with their stable mates and new friends on the page.

so, i hope we can all go into the new year as positively as we can – what with the current economic climate bearing down upon us.

take care guys and seasonal greetings! much love from us all,

at the 25 hour convenience store,,,

    gary.

hey hey one and all. well i finally succumbed to twitter, and got stuck in the barcelona after a london guns gig. the two are not related. hope all’s well and that people are excited to see what may be new happening in the world of 25. as we wind down for xmas i can assure you that there will be some interesting things happenings come the new year with the new signings and again we will keep you up to date as much as possible. i’ll also keep you updated with what’s happening at my end of the scale with london guns, my own individual djing thing the invasion of… and other stuff. yep it is gonna be a busy year so keep on watching – and when you can’t watch, get a friend to watch for you. it’ll be the best use of a relay team ever. just in case i’m not on here before the auspicious day (that’s xmas for the uninitiated) i hope that one and all have an amazing festive season and a more than memorable new year, but i will more than likely be back on here anyway so scratch that.

    catch you later!!!

hey hey one and all from the 25 hour convenience store. i can honestly say that i am thrilled that so many of you have left comments behind about the music that you have heard. it is of great importance to me that you keep on doing this so that we can supply you with the music that you want to hear – and may be the music that will make you wanna ask questions too. there will be a lot happening come the new year with new releases from jeye t, lizzie nightingale (she will be shooting her new video this coming weekend, not to mention new arrivals to the label such as these waves and antlered man. remember; i wanna here what you guys all think about the releases and – hell, about music in general. music is the big communicator and we all generally do not talk enough about it. so lets get the big discussion happening and as long as there is – at the least music on this site, lets keep it going.

hope to hear from you soon and even if i don’t – festive greetings to one and all!!!

    gary.
